School student dies
Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: A Plus-Two student of a residential school in northern suburb died on Wednesday.
Police said the student, identified as Mohammad Bilal (19), was studying in 11th standard. Since he was not present at the morning wake up call, a search was conducted on the campus. He was found lying in an unconscious state in his hostel room. Immediately, he was rushed to Apollo Hospitals, where doctors declared him “brought dead.”

Since his parents are in Saudi Arabia, Lok Sabha MP J.M.Haroon, a relative of the boy, is the local guardian, police added. When contacted, Mr. Haroon said that there were a few marks below the eyes of the boy. Some blood stains behind the head were washed with soap, he alleged.

The school chairman’s secretary G. Prabhakaran said when the wake-up call was given at 5.15 a.m., Bilal was not present.

When checked, he was in his room and had improper breathing. Immediately, the resident doctor, who attended on him, found that his pulse was dropping. Hence, he was rushed to the hospital. Last month he fainted following which he was given treatment, Mr. Prabhakaran recalled.

The Kavarapettai police have registered a case under Section 174 Cr.PC. A senior police officer said that a case of unnatural death has been registered. Based on the post-mortem report, further action would be taken, he added.
